Heads up!

Elllie is really holding her head up well now.  She’s a very strong little girl.

She’s also not always a fan of the mei tai!

Blessed

Today I am grateful for this amazing man and this precious baby girl.  I am grateful for my loving family and friends.  I am grateful to have a warm dry house and plenty of food to eat.  I’m grateful to live at peace and without fear.  I am blessed beyond measure.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I like big bottoms and I cannot lie

The first cloth diaper Ellie ever wore!

Proof that we have finally entered the world of cloth diapering!  Mom did the hard work of preparing our prefolds for use and now we’re finally using them.  For those who know about these things, right now we’re using organic unbleached prefolds with Thirsties covers.   My friend Julie also very generously gave us her supply of Fuzzi Bunz pocket diapers so we’ll start using those soon too.  We’re still using disposables at night and I haven’t quite gotten  to using the cloth wipes I made this summer.  But at least we started!

Update – We’re already at 7 weeks!

Ellie is 7 weeks old already!  It’s hard to believe that it’s been that long since our lives changed so dramatically.  We love every day with her.  Certainly not every day has been easy but we are still so grateful that she’s in our family now.

She still has a congested nose but thankfully, we’re all sleeping better now.  Last night, she actually let me sleep for about 4 hour stretch!

She’s also starting to get lots of rolls, especially on her legs.  This morning, I gave her a bath and was pretty proud of myself for managing to get her really clean.  Then, I was drying her off and discovered a couple places on her thighs and behind her knees where I don’t think the water had even touched.  Gross.  I’m going to have to be a super-vigilant crease-cleaner!

We’re off to the chiropractor.  Since Ellie was about 3 weeks old, I’ve been going to a chiropractor who specializes in pre-natal and post-partum care and also adjusts babies.  It’s so cool to see how she can even adjust Eliana’s back with just a few light touches.

Simple Gifts

I just came across this video and the beauty of the music as well as the choreography made me cry.  (Not an unusual thing these days!) Hope you enjoy it too.

Sleeping on Daddy

or, “Ellie is a very squirmy sleeper.”

The Fencer

When Ellie is feeling calm and is lying on her back, she often assumes the “Fencer” pose, which is also called the “Tonic Neck Reflex.”  I love this one – I’ll look over at her and she’ll just be posing.  It’s particularly endearing to me, for some reason.  I could take a million pictures of her “fencing” but here’s just one.  (And yes, I know her head looks dangerously close to the edge of the table, but she was safe, believe me.)

I won’t be sad when her newborn startle reflex goes away but I will miss this one!

Laughing with Mama and Baba

(If you want to sound Greek, put the accent on the last syllable)

Ellie is growing into such a fun little girl!

ETA:  Zona’s right – she wasn’t actually laughing with me – just really big smiles.  But it felt like laughing! 🙂  So the title probably should have been, “Major smiles with Mama and Baba.”  Although, she’s definitely chuckling in her sleep now!
