First Joke:
“It’s a joke, Mama. Why did the chicken cross the road to get to the park?”
pause.
laughter!
First Prayer:
“Jesus, Baby Mark nurse, sleep.”
pause.
[I whisper, “If you’re finished, you can say ‘Amen’. “]
“Amen!”
laughter!
Bonus [non-linguistic] first:

Do you know what I like best about this picture? The toddler sitting on a counter between a stove and a knife. It makes me feel a little less alone in the world. 😉 I hope jam making went well today.
I totally didn’t even think about how many dangerous things are in that picture! 🙂 I must admit that we’re so lazy about being careful around Ellie because she’s so naturally cautious on her own. But yes, that picture is a totally accurate, every day reflection of how things go around here. So you’re definitely not alone. And yes, 14 jars of jam! Hooray!
She’s telling jokes already?! And I love Lisa’s comment!
I told her the classic “Why did the chicken?” joke that morning and she decided to make one of her own! 🙂
