My old friends came home yesterday!
(Or in other words, I unpacked 9 boxes of books and now have two bookcases bursting full of books, plus a few to take to the Book Thing.)

Update
We just bought the fabric that’s closest to the orange wall. So that decision’s done!

Our new arrivals (but not as cute as Ezra!)
Our new sofa and love seat! They really are the same color, I promise! We agonized over the color, went to lots of stores, and then ended up buying the very first sofa we sat on – at La-Z-Boy, back in the first couple weeks of June!
We should have just gone with our first instinct right away!

We don’t like the pillows that they came with so we’re currently working on buying fabric to make new covers. You can see our top two options. Here they are with the orange wall – it’s tough to find something that goes with the green and the orange!

I think we’re going to go with the stripes nearest the orange wall. It matched the green of the couches better.

And in other news…
I have ringworm, AGAIN!! So frustrating. And because I didn’t post a picture of my disgusting leg last fall, here’s a picture of my disgusting left forearm now. We’re currently worried that Nik is going to get it too because it’s contagious. Yucky. I think the kids at church summer camp (where I taught piano classes – me being the expert piano player and all) gave it to me. Oh well. I’m on antibiotics too, because it looked a little bit infected.

And finally…
here’s a couple pictures of the new and improved corner cupboards in the dining room. We have the glass cupboard (with Papa and Granny’s sugar and creamer) and the china cupboard. Fun!

Today I…
[finally] got around to organizing our kitchen. I went through and cleaned out all the cupboards, moved stuff around, weeded out a lot of old stuff we don’t need, and put away our gifts. I also cleaned, cleared, sorted, and rearranged the corner hutches in our dining room. The kitchen has more cupboard space than I thought – a pleasant surprise! I’m still working on solving the “we only have one drawer” problem. I think I need to find some long narrow plastic containers to put in one of my cabinets. I think they could function as doors. I also got out the tools and took out a contraption from under the sink that had gotten disgusting. I also threw away cleaning supplies that could have been 20 years old. In all, a hot, sweaty, and gratifying day. That was most of my kitchen list – I still have to clean the fridge and finish a couple more cupboards. But then, I have to move onto my other lists – 8 more categories – many more things to do. Will I get it all done before we leave for Alaska on Monday? Probably not but at least my extensive lists are motivating me to try!
And lest you think that Nik is a slacker, he’s most certainly not because he sat at his computer all day and edited the wedding video. Hard work. He’s basically done with the rough cut of the ceremony – but that still leaves the reception, and lots of fine-tuning. Will he finish before we leave for Alaska on Monday? We hope so!
And if you’re still reading at the end of this fairly boring post, thanks for being a committed reader! I love you all!

The ivy has been conquered! (At least for a time!)
Opinions wanted
So I’m getting new glasses. These are our top 2 choices so far:
I want some opinions. Should we keep looking? Do you like either of these? These two are fairly similar except once is rounder than the other. (And ignore the annoyingly long bangs.)
P.S. It’s true. I do love my mom!
