It’s nice to be with you to celebrate!
That’s Baby Ezra in my arms and a “not-stoned-I’m-sure” Eric in the background.
We love you!

Remember when I told you Ellie had rabies? And when I had to confess that I had only been joking? Now you can watch for yourself and decide if you think that she really did have rabies. She’s fully recovered now!

In case you’re wondering, we still love Ellie even when she’s not willing to perform for the camera. In this case, Ellie decided to just hang out on her stomach rather than roll as commanded. (There’s not much action in this video – probably one for the grandparents more than anything else! 🙂 )

My sister Rachel had a baby on June 4th. To celebrate baby Clara’s birth, I sewed Rachel a diaper bag ensemble. You’ll notice that it’s getting harder and hard to take good pictures with Ellie in them – she wants to be moving all the time!
This is the “Here We Go” bag from Handmade Beginnings by Anna Maria Horner. The gray and white fabrics are from IKEA and the purple was from my stash. It’s a really large roomy bag with two exterior pockets with cute box pleats on the bottom.
The pattern has an interior divider but no interior pockets. So I added three – one on each side and one on the divider.
One with a zipper:
One with elastic:
And one with a fabric accent:
The inside also features an elastic loop for the changing pad (in the pattern) and a D-ring for clipping keys to (an innovation which I added myself):
I also made her a changing pad:
And a little coin purse with a D-ring, for clipping onto keys as desired (note the blurry toes):
This was a fun project because I was able to use a lot of other skills that I acquired sewing the diaper bags for Nik and I as well as Meggan’s and the Tabitha bag too. I love how sewing is such a cumulative art!
Hope you love using the bag Rachel! We’re so happy to have baby Clara in our family!
Here’s some video we shot of Ellie going crazy kicking. She also did her crazy lip smacking action which (sadly) has fallen off her list of favored activities now that she’s older. Look for it at around the 15-second mark. The crazy kicking is closer to the end of this video.

Nik and I were married four short years ago and I am so grateful to be his wife.
I’m excited to see what the next four years (and beyond) will bring for us!
For this year, we are most grateful that the two who became one are now three!
For my friend Lora and her little boy (born in May) and my friend Steph and her little girl (due in August):
and a commission by Tina (Nik’s mom) – I jazzed this one up with three colors of topstiching. I might have to do that more often – it looks really cool!
To my Baba
Thank you for being the best father a little girl could ask for. You take such loving, tender care of me. I love the games that we play and the songs you both sing and whistle to me. I especially love the classical songs that you make up to keep me happy in the fussy hour before bedtime. You make me laugh, a lot. I am also very grateful for how hard you work so that Mama can stay at home and take care of me. I love you!
To our fathers
We are grateful to you for your love, generosity, kindness, and thoughtfulness. We appreciate all that you have done, and continue to do, for us. We are glad that Ellie has two such awesome grandfathers.
We love you!
Love,
Nik and Laura
