On our flight back from Greece, we had a really long layover in England – most of a day. Jon and Leah were able to take the day off and meet us at the airport, which was lovely. So Jon dropped off Leah and the girls at a coffee shop in Windsor, picked up the three of us at the airport, drove us back to Windsor, and we all spent the day together.
The main attraction of Windsor is Windsor Castle. We admired the castle from the outside, not having enough time to justify the expense of buying tickets for everyone to go in.
Jon and Leah packed a lovely lunch for us so we walked up the Long Walk in order to also have a lovely view while we ate it.
Kaitlyn and Ellie enjoyed spending some fun hours together as cousins. It’s too bad we don’t live closer to each other so this could happen more often!
After lunch,we kept on walking until we’d walked far enough to get a wide view of the whole castle. It’s quite impressive!
After lunch and exploring we headed back into town. This was as close as we got to the inside of the castle. I had the fun of going inside and exploring the castle when I traveled in England in 1999 but we just didn’t have enough time to go in this time. Maybe next time!
After eating dinner together, Jon repeated the whole shuttle process in reverse (leaving Leah and the girls at a coffee shop, taking us to the airport, then going back to get them).
We were so glad to get to spend a few more hours with Jon, Leah, Kaitlyn, and Maria before heading off for the last leg of our trip. We checked in and eagerly anticipated boarding our next plane because…
we were off to Iceland!

The picture of the girls holding hands is precious!
I know – they were really adorable together! 🙂
Was the Queen home? I couldn’t see if the flag was up. Can’t wait to see Iceland pictures.
Good question Lisa! I don’t even remember myself – but I don’t think so because it was pretty low key around there. Iceland – coming soon!
Little girl cousins=Georgous! That picture is so cute! Good memories, that was a fun day!
Thanks for making it so fun for us! 🙂
And I’m sorry we didn’t manage to get Maria in any of our pictures – I guess she was just too content in the stroller!
