I promise that I didn’t forget to celebrate Nik’s 30th birthday (which was yesterday).  In fact, I was so busy pulling off a surprise 30th birthday party for him that I forgot to write a blog post about it!

The party actually didn’t end up being a surprise but that’s OK.  I wasn’t exactly sure how I was going to be able to pull off getting ready for a party for 25 people without Nik noticing that something weird was going on.  In the end, not a surprise was a better idea.  So, thank you Lisa!

I made Nik a peanut butter chocolate cake (using the famous recipe my friend Sharla generously shared with me).  Sadly, I somehow managed to delete the good picture of the cake where you got to see the “30” on the top made with mini-peanut butter cups.  Instead, you get this picture, taken by K, age 5.
