With Gratitude

We had such a fabulous labor and birth experience at Special Beginnings and I wanted to give something for our midwife and our nurse to express our gratitude.  So Tina made them baklava and I sewed them these little wallets, from this tutorial.  I made one for myself a couple months ago.  With these two, I added an inch to the width and I like the size much better.

The gray fabric is wool and the red dots are from a fun fabric store on the Oregon coast.  Last summer, when we were driving up from Tillamook to Seaside, I saw a fabric store along the side of the road.  It’s a good thing Nik has quick reflexes because he was able to stop fast in response to my shout of excitement!

I especially love the orange zipper/yellow lining combination of this one.  It’s particularly nice for gray winter days!

This was also my first project using snaps.  They were remarkably easy to use although hard to line up correctly.  Now I have another skill to put in my sewing tool box!

I hope these little wallets helped Megan and Breda understand how grateful we were for their tender care of us.
